“That’s enough gawking at the bike, everyone get back inside the classroom now,” said Sophie’s teacher.
“You know, it’s going to be slow going home by bike,” observed Sophie’s friend.
“It’s actually not that slow,” I said, “and it’s fun.”
“And,” added Sophie, “it’s better for the trees. Cars make smoke that hurts the trees, you know. Our bike is better.”
Yup. Hearing Sophie say that was even better than hearing, when I first rode up, all the adults around the preschool each saying, “Wow, that’s a cool bike.”
